Get Moving in March!

Has a long, cold, snowy winter kept you stuck inside? Well, let’s chase away the winter doldrums together as we get moving in March! Beginning March 1st, Swedish Hospital will be participating in Miles for Meaning, a month-long virtual fitness challenge on the Kilter app. We’re looking to build a winning team and need our employees, friends, and family to join in on the fun, so collectively, we can log the most miles and win the $25,000 challenge.

All you need to get started is your phone; started by signing up using the Kilter app (iOS/Android) and connect a fitness tracker that you’re already using to log your miles when you run or walk. It’s that easy. Track your miles every day throughout the month of March and you’ll earn points towards prizes and support Swedish Hospital at the same time! The team with the most miles logged at the end of March wins $25,000 for their organization.

All funds raised during our Miles for Meaning Challenge will support Swedish’s Community Breast Health Program, which provides screening mammograms and life-saving services to low-income patients throughout our community. As Team Member Erika, of Galter LifeCenter explains, “I’m always looking for new motivation to help keep me moving, and nothing is more inspiring than joining team Swedish Hospital Foundation in its effort to win $25,000 for its

Community Health Breast Program! It was so easy to sign up and connect the Kilter app to my Apple Health, and I can’t wait to watch our team rack up our mileage!”. Team Member Chloe agrees, “I wanted to join the Miles for Meaning Challenge because not only is it a great cause that I am excited to participate in, but my Mom also works at Swedish which encouraged me to join and participate!”. Even SH Foundation Board members are joining in on the fun. Julianne M. explains, “I’m excited to get moving again with Swedish Hospital this March and get back to a regular fitness routine. It’s a bonus that my running and walking miles could also help the hospital win a $25,000 donation. I can run or walk on my own time in my neighborhood or on a treadmill, spend time with friends and support Swedish Hospital at the same time."

We currently have over 50 team members who have committed to getting healthy, having fun, and helping us reach our goal. Shake off those winter blues by joining us in moving and making a difference.
