Elizabeth Miniscalco

Elizabeth Miniscalco

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Elizabeth Miniscalco, on the morning of Tuesday, February 27th.  Our prayers and condolences go out to Elizabeth’s family.  Visitation will be held at Cooney Funeral Home, 625 Busse Hwy, Park Ridge on Friday 3-9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, prayers at 9:15 a.m. to Queen of All Saints Basilica for 10 a.m. Mass.

Elizabeth was known as the Momma Bear of the Swedish Cancer Treatment Center.  She not only looked after all of our patients but was the strongest supporter of each and every member of her team. Elizabeth touched so many employees at Swedish in her 39 years of service. Early in her SCH career Elizabeth served as the Nurse Manager for several units, including 5 East, 4 East, 4 North and AP5.  In 2002 she became the Manger of the Infusion Center and Radiation Oncology.  In 2006 Elizabeth became the Manager of the Cancer Treatment Program.  In addition, as the SCH Cancer Treatment program grew, she took on the position of Practice Manager for the Swedish Covenant Medical Group’s Oncology practice.  Elizabeth was extremely active in many different nursing leadership committees and was always volunteering to lend her hand wherever help was needed.  Elizabeth saw the positive in every situation and in every person.  Elizabeth was loved not only by the CTC team but also by so many others in the organization.  We were all truly blessed to be part of her many years at Swedish and she will be greatly missed.

The family requests donations be made to Swedish Hospital Foundation. The Foundation is collecting funds for the creation of a nursing education scholarship named in memory of Elizabeth to be awarded this year.  Donations to the Cancer Center are also appreciated. Please contact the Foundation through the link provided or call 773-293-5121 for more information.
