Women’s Health Center Renamed in Honor of Jack and Mayora Rosenberg
The Mayora Rosenberg Women’s Health Center was recently renamed the Jack and Mayora Rosenberg Women’s Health Center, after Jack’s passing in December of 2020. In honor of the renaming, family, friends and Swedish employees who knew and loved Jack and Mayora filled the Swedish Hospital Healing Garden on August 4, 2021 to celebrate their legacies of kindness. Over 50 guests shared stories and memories of Jack’s devotion to Swedish Hospital and his wife Mayora, his generous spirit, and the warmth and kindness which he imparted on everyone he met. Anthony Guaccio, CEO of Swedish Hospital, remembered Jack for his continuous support throughout the years and provided a toast in his honor. More toasts followed, led by Lauren Rubinson-Morris, President and CEO of Medical Express Ambulance Service Inc., and Jennifer Tscherney, Executive Director of Swedish Hospital Foundation. Jack and Mayora’s children, David Rosenberg and Beth Zweig, thanked the organizers from the Swedish Hospital Foundation for the “… lovely evening, seeing both our parents' names on the wall in the Women's Health Center, hearing the lovely tributes and sharing great stories.”
The center was initially named in 2014 after Mayora Rosenberg, a woman who dedicated herself to improving countless lives throughout her career as a social worker. Mayora was a longtime patient of Swedish Hospital and an avid member of Galter LifeCenter. Jack Rosenberg, the illustrious sports editor whose career spanned over 40 years with WGN radio and TV, was a devoted supporter and friend of Swedish Hospital, who spent much of his spare time visiting staff and supporting fundraising efforts for the Hospital. Jack left a void at Swedish with his passing in December of 2020, and so it was only natural that the Women’s Health Center be renamed in honor of both Jack and Mayora Rosenberg’s impact on our community.
The Jack & Mayora Rosenberg Women’s Health Center is a state-of-the-art, comprehensive diagnostic health center which offers a full range of high-quality preventive care, expanding access to health services and information, including breast cancer detection services, mental health services, services for new moms, and community education and outreach. The Swedish Hospital Community Breast Health Program targets uninsured and underinsured women living at or below 200% of the federal poverty level and provides women with free breast health services and exams.
