Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation works to inspire charitable giving to Swedish Covenant Hospital through philanthropic partnerships with those who want to make a real difference. We fulfill this mission through the generosity of friends, grateful patients, neighbors and business leaders who believe in enhancing care to help provide a healthier community for more than 95,000 patients served annually.
Founded in 2007, the Foundation is governed by a board of directors, including corporate leaders and physicians, and provides more than $1 million per year in funding to support Swedish Covenant Hospital. The Foundation has enhanced care at Swedish Covenant Hospital through initiatives including:
- Initiated a comprehensive Violence Prevention Program to identify and respond to victims of human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault;
- Developed a low-cost Lung Cancer Screening Program that provides life-saving chest CT scans for high-risk individuals;
- Funded the Helping Hands Fund to assist patients in our emergency department access medications they otherwise cannot afford.
The Foundation has identified the following funding priorities for this year:
Cancer Services: Our Integrated Cancer Care program is designed to help survivors overcome the physical and emotional challenges of his or her diagnosis by providing healing services that extend beyond medical treatment. Gifts to cancer care provide access to survivorship services, including navigation, nutrition, and stress reduction.
Violence Prevention Program: This comprehensive program strengthens the hospital’s capacity to identify and respond to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Swedish Covenant Hospital offers staff training workshops, safe transportation to emergency shelter and referrals to community resources, patient education materials, and comfort care packages for victims of violence who present in the emergency department following a traumatic event.
Women’s Health: Through Women’s Health, Swedish Covenant hospital helps to provide preventive, diagnostic and support services for uninsured and underinsured women. Services covered by the Foundation are based upon critical needs identified in our community and include mental health services, breast cancer detection services and community education and outreach.
Nursing Education: Excellent and compassionate care starts with our nurses. In order to provide the best care to our patients, the Nursing Education fund supports continuing education opportunities and research projects for nursing staff.
