Associates Board

About Us

The Associates’ Board of Swedish Hospital Foundation is a dynamic and dedicated group of young professionals who raise funds, increase public awareness, and perform community service on behalf of Swedish Hospital.  Our members act as ambassadors for Swedish Hospital, sharing a common goal to advance patient care, encourage groundbreaking medical research and reach out in service to the surrounding Chicago community.

“I have been a member of Associates’ Board for the past four years and president for the past two years. I have been fortunate to develop and strengthen many professional relationships through my association with the Board.  The Associates’ Board is great for young professionals who want to get involved and give back to their communities, while simultaneously growing their professional network.”  Lauren Kulikauskas, President, Associates’ Board.

Community Support

Associates Board Acknowledges Swedish Hospital Nurses

Every year during Nurses Week, members of the Associates Board acknowledge Swedish Hospital nurses by distributing snacks and goodies via a snacks cart.  Nurses Week was May 10-16 and Associate Board members Jessica Hickey and Heather Ritter donned masks and gloves and distributed well-deserved snacks and goodies to the busy nurses working the patient floors.  This year, 90 Swedish Hospital nurses enjoyed the sweet treats.

Associates’ Board Supports the Violence Prevention Program

At its April 2020 meeting, the Swedish Hospital Associates’ Board unanimously voted to support the Violence Prevention Program (VPP) with a generous gift of $8,000. This contribution is the largest in the Associates Board’s history and is a testament to the critical and essential services the VPP provides to the Chicago community.

The Violence Prevention Program was established to identify and respond to patients who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.  Swedish Hospital trains its healthcare providers on best practices for screening and assessing patients, providing resources and safe transport to emergency shelters and connecting patients to community based agencies.

After a presentation to the Board by the Director of VPP, Kate Lawler, the Associates Board chose to highlight the VPP at its annual fundraising event, Bar on Buena held on September 26, 2019. Throughout the year, the Board promoted the work of VPP and Swedish Hospital to their friends, family and communities.  Over 100 guests attended the event and enthusiastically supported the work of the VPP and Swedish.

“The Violence Prevention Program continues to inspire the members of the Associates’ Board. From the dedication of Kate Lawler, to the community partnership with over 50 social service agencies, and the training that it provides to healthcare professionals throughout the city, the Associates’ Board could not think of a better program to which to donate its funds.”  Jessica Hickey, RN Vice President, Associates Board
