Foundation visits corporate partners for lunch and learns

Swedish Covenant Hospital Foundation recently visited Evolent Health and Bain & Company to educate employees about the Violence Prevention Program at Swedish Covenant Hospital. Nearly 70 employees from both companies attend the lunch and learn events.

“While domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking are issues that the group has heard of before, the Swedish Covenant Hospital lunch and learn made it deeply personal and local. Everyone walked away wanting to know how they could be more informed, educated, and involved,” said Casey Carey, principal, Bain & Company.

Following the presentation, Evolent Health and Bain & Company committed to further supporting Swedish Covenant Hospital. Evolent employees held a toiletry and clothing drive, in addition to providing financial donations to support victims of violence. Evolent, along with Bain, also offered pro bono support to the hospital.

“The proximity of human trafficking in our own city, and what the Foundation’s efforts have been able to achieve in helping victims to date, spurred the group to organize a toiletry and clothing drive the very next week,” said Regan Murphy,  who helped to organize the event at Evolent. “We hope this will be the first of many ways that volunteers can help support the Violence Prevention Program.”

The Violence Prevention Program was created to strengthen Swedish Covenant Hospital’s capacity to identify and respond to patients who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Since the program’s inception in 2015, more than 700 clinicians have been trained to recognize when a patient may be experiencing abuse and to respond in ways that increase safety, reduce isolation and connect survivors with ongoing support in the community.
